Merger of Ísmar ehf. and Fálkinn hf.

The Competition Authority has been reviewing the merger of Ísmar ehf. and Fálkinn hf. According to the merger document, Ísmar specialises in the sale and service of equipment for all types of land surveying, mechatronics and laser technology. As for Fálkinn's operations, the merger filing states that it specialises in car and engine parts, mechanical engineering products and electrical engineering products, and operates a shop and service workshop at Dalvegur 10-14 in Kópavogur.

Following an investigation and having regard to the evidence, the Competition Authority is of the opinion that the merger does not prevent effective competition and therefore does not result in the creation of a dominant position. Furthermore, it does not otherwise lead to a significant distortion of competition in the market. Therefore, there are no grounds to take action regarding the merger under Article 17(c) of the Competition Act No. 44/2005.
