Purchase of the assets and business of Veitingahúsið Greifinn ehf. by FoodCo hf.

The Competition Authority received a notification regarding the acquisition by FoodCo hf. of the assets and business of Veitingahúsið Greifinn ehf. In the opinion of the Competition Authority, the acquisition constituted a merger within the meaning of Articles 4 and 17 of the Competition Act, and the merger fell under the merger control regime of Article 17 of the Act as the turnover thresholds of the provision were met. However, the Competition Authority's investigations did not indicate that the merger would distort competition. In light of this, the Authority's assessment was that there was no reason to take further action regarding the merger under section 17 of the Competition Act.
