The decision concerned the merger of Artasan ehf. and Matar og pökkun ehf. Artasan ehf. is engaged in the import, registration, marketing and wholesale of generic medicines, over-the-counter medicines and health products in cooperation with foreign suppliers. Matur og pökkun is engaged in wholesale activities, specialising in the import and distribution of various food products, particularly confectionery, biscuits, dried fruit and nuts, as well as other products, such as cleaning and consumables. Following an investigation into the merger, the Competition Authority concluded that there were no grounds for intervention, as there were no indications that a dominant position was being created or that the merger would otherwise lead to a significant distortion of competition.
