Merger of Kaupfélag Skagfirðinga svf. and Tengill investment holding company ehf.

On 21 April 2009, the Competition Authority received a notification regarding the acquisition by Kaupfélag Skagfirðinga svf. of Tengli eignarhaldsfélagi ehf., in accordance with the provisions of Article 17a of the Competition Act. No. 44/2005. Did the notification comply with the requirements of competition law and regulations? No. 684/2008 on merger notification, but companies that do not operate in the same markets are permitted to submit a shorter notification in accordance with paragraph 6 of Article 17a of the Competition Act on mergers. The Competition Authority considered there were no grounds to take action regarding the merger.
