Merger of Orkunnar IS ehf., Skel fjárfestingafélags hf. and Wedo ehf.

The decision concerned the merger of Orkan IS ehf., Skel fjárfestingafélags hf. and Wedo ehf. Orkan IS ehf. operates in the retail market for groceries and runs shops under the names 10-11 and Extra, along with three shops under the Orkan name. 

Skel is an investment company and Wedo is the operator of Heimkaup, which is an online store with a delivery service, specialising in the sale of groceries and speciality products to consumers. Following an investigation into the merger, the Competition Authority concluded that there was no reason for intervention, as there were no indications that a dominant position was being created or that the merger would otherwise lead to a significant distortion of competition.
