Purchase of Maven ehf. by Origo ehf.

The acquisition by Origo ehf. of 96% of the share capital in Maven ehf., together with all of the company's voting rights, constitutes a merger within the meaning of competition law. The merging parties operate in information technology markets, but there is limited overlap between them in potential sub-markets. According to the merging parties, Origo is a comprehensive information technology company, while Maven specialises in data and business intelligence. There are no indications that the merger will lead to the creation or strengthening of a dominant position, or that competition will otherwise be significantly distorted. The Competition Authority closed the case without further investigation in the first phase.
