Merger of Samhentra Kassagerðar hf. and Frjó Umbúðasalan ehf.

The Competition Authority has been reviewing the merger of Samhentir Cabinet Making Ltd. and Frjó Packaging Sales. Samhentir is owned by Innís Ltd. and several individuals. Samhentir specialises Primarily a wholesaler of packaging, consumables and packaging machinery for the fishing, food and industrial sectors, and for all types of resellers. Frjó is also a wholesale company that sells packaging, machinery and technical equipment, as well as consumables. The Competition Authority's investigation revealed that there is no reason to believe that the concentration in the overall market for the resale of packaging and its individual sub-markets could give rise to competition concerns. Following an investigation, the Authority has concluded that there is no reason to take action regarding this merger under Article 17 of the Competition Act No. 44/2005.
