Operation of a fitness facility at the facilities of the Vestmannaeyjar Municipality Sports Centre

The Competition Authority and the Vestmannaeyjar municipality have reached a settlement regarding the municipality's leasing of premises for the operation of fitness centres alongside the sale of annual passes for the municipality's swimming pools. Customers of the fitness centres received a significant discount on the standard price of annual passes for the swimming pools. The settlement stipulates, among other things, that Vestmannaeyjar Municipality shall offer the lease of the premises in question on the market and sell customers of the fitness centres access to the swimming pools and bathing facilities at a price, which shall not be lower than the lowest fee available to general swimming pool patrons when they purchase an individual admission.
