The Competition Authority was reviewing the acquisition of Hugbúnaður hf. by Vörða Capital ehf. Vörða Capital's main activities are business consulting and investment, and the company owns a number of subsidiaries and associate companies operating in various markets. Hugbúnaður hf. owns the subsidiaries Centara ehf. and Wise lausnir ehf., which both develop and sell software.

The Competition Authority was of the opinion that the merger would not lead to a distortion of competition, as the merging parties do not operate in the same field and therefore the vertical and conglomerate effects of the merger are limited.
