Merger of M Invest ehf. and Metatron ehf.

The Competition Authority has been reviewing the merger of M.Invest ehf. and Metatron ehf. M. Invest is a holding company while Metatron is a contracting company, whose operations consist mainly of laying shock-absorbing pads under artificial grass, laying artificial grass, track surfaces, the sale of indoor and outdoor surfacing materials, as well as lighting solutions for sports facilities and larger event areas. The merging parties therefore operate in different markets, there is no change in the number of competitors in the relevant markets and the degree of concentration is low.

The Competition Authority therefore concludes that nothing in the information or evidence currently available suggests that the merger will have a significant effect on, or substantially distort, competition. For these reasons, the Competition Authority sees no reason to take further action regarding the merger and is therefore closing the investigation at the Phase I stage.
