Conclusion of the investigation into the acquisition by Síldarvinnslan hf. of a 50% stake in Ice Fresh Seafood ehf. from Samherji hf.

The decision describes the proceedings and the conclusion of the Competition Authority's investigation into the merger of Síldarvinnslan hf. and Samherji hf. („Samherji“), concerning SVN's acquisition of a 50.1% stake in Ice Fresh Seafood ehf. from Samherji. The merging parties informed the Competition Authority of the withdrawal of the merger notification on 3 June 2024, whereupon the Authority's investigation and proceedings automatically came to an end. As the parties withdrew the notification, the Authority was not required to take a final position on the merger and whether it complied with competition law.
