Merger of Icepharma hf. and Lyfis ehf.

The Competition Authority has been reviewing the merger of Icepharma hf. and Lyfis ehf. Icepharma is a sales and marketing company that sells pharmaceuticals – mainly branded medicines, nursing products, medical devices, health-related consumer products and sports products. Lyfis acts as an agent for generic pharmaceutical manufacturers.  

The merging parties operate largely in different markets, although their activities overlap in certain sub-markets of the pharmaceutical market. Following an investigation, the Competition Authority has concluded that there are no grounds for intervention in the merger under Article 17 of the Competition Act No. 44/2005.
