The acquisition of Völka ehf by Marel Iceland ehf

The Competition Authority has been reviewing the merger of Marel Iceland ehf., a subsidiary of Marel hf., and Völka ehf. Marel and Valka both manufacture and service equipment used for various aspects of food processing. Marel's main business is the manufacture of machinery for processing meat, poultry and fish. Valka's business is in the manufacture of machinery for fish processing. Following an extensive investigation of the case, the competition authority concluded that there were no grounds for intervention.
