Merger of Opinna Kerfa hf. and TRS ehf.

The Competition Authority has concluded its investigation into the merger of Opin Kerfi hf. (hereinafter „Opin Kerfi“) and TRS ehf. (hereinafter „TRS“). Opin Kerfi specialises in consultancy and operations and hosting services, as well as the sale of computer and communication equipment to both domestic and international companies. The registered purpose of Opin Kerfi is the sale of information technology, marketing, consultancy and service activities in the field of information technology, investments in related activities, the operation of real estate, lending activities and other related business.

TRS is an information technology, telecommunications and electrical services company, founded in 1995. TRS's registered purpose is the sale and servicing of computer and telecommunications equipment. The company is headquartered in Selfoss but also operates an office in Kópavogur, according to the merger partners. 

The Competition Authority has concluded that nothing in the information or evidence before it suggests that the merger would create or strengthen a dominant position, or otherwise significantly distort competition. For these reasons, the Competition Authority sees no reason to take action regarding the merger and is therefore closing the case at the first-phase stage.
