Merger of Stefnis hf., SRE III slhf. and Heimstaden ehf

The Competition Authority has been considering the acquisition by SRE III slhf., an investment fund managed by Stefni on behalf of Heimstaden ehf. Heimstaden is a real estate company operating in the market for the rental of general residential property. The Competition Authority's investigation revealed that no concentration occurs in the defined markets of the case following the merger. Conditions have been imposed in the case and, following an investigation, the Competition Authority has concluded that the said conditions remedy the competition concerns that would otherwise have arisen from the merger. The settlement is comprehensive and not case-specific, and is intended to prevent the negative competitive effects that could arise from Stefnis and its funds' dominance over companies in the market.
