The Competition Authority has been reviewing the acquisition by Haru Holding ehf. of all shares in Bláfugl ehf. Haru Holding is a holding company that focuses on investments in companies in the airline and related industries. Its subsidiaries include Flugfélagið Atlanta ehf., which is headquartered in Iceland. It operates exclusively in the foreign passenger and cargo air transport market. The company operates, among other things, six cargo aircraft that exclusively serve Saudi Arabian Airlines, based in Saudi Arabia. Bláfugl is a cargo airline based in Iceland. The company flies, among other places, between Iceland and Europe, with one of its five aircraft performing this service. Following an investigation and having regard to the case file, the Competition Authority is of the opinion that the merger will not have an adverse effect on competition in this country. There is therefore no reason to take further action regarding the merger under Article 17 of the Competition Act.
