The decision concerned the merger of Rubix Íslandi ehf. and Verkfærasalan ehf. Rubix Íslandi is a major distributor and retailer of industrial components, while Verkfærasalan imports and sells machinery and tools for industry. There are no indications that the parties to the transaction have, or will acquire, a dominant market position through this merger, and its competitive effects are considered negligible as they operate largely in unconnected markets. For these reasons, the Competition Authority concluded that there was no grounds for intervention.
