Merger of Icelandic Hot Pools Ltd. (The Blue Lagoon, etc.) and Gufa – Laugarvatn Fontana Ltd.

The Competition Authority approved the acquisition by Icelandic Hot Pools Ltd. of a shareholding in Gufa – Laugarvatn Fontana Ltd. Both merging parties operate, amongst other things, swimming pools in Reykjanes on the one hand and in South Iceland on the other, the latter being, prior to the merger, largely owned by the acquirer. The Competition Authority found no reason for intervention or further investigation and closed the case at the first-phase stage.
