The Competition Authority refers to the fact that the Parliamentary Committee on Economic and Commercial Affairs has requested an opinion on the bill on the amendment of the Act on Value Added Tax and the Competition Act (fuel tax rate), matter 607. The opinion is given in accordance with the role of the Authority as set out in c. of the first paragraph of Article 8. Article of the Competition Act No. 44/2005, which provides that the Authority shall ensure that measures by public authorities do not restrict competition and shall point out ways to promote effective competition.
