The Competition Authority has concluded its review of Kaldalóns hf.'s acquisition of all real estate owned by FÍ Fasteignafélags slhf. The Authority's conclusion is that the merger does not warrant further investigation, and the case was therefore closed at the first phase.
The matter concerns the market for leasing commercial premises to unrelated parties. The merger filing stated that the properties of FÍ Fasteignafélag consist of ten properties in the capital region, comprising, among other things, hotel, office, retail and service premises.
In assessing the merger, the Competition Authority took into account, among other things, information in the merger filing, available data and submissions from competitors. No comments were received from market participants regarding the merger.
The Competition Authority's conclusion is that there is no indication the merger will create or strengthen a dominant position, or otherwise significantly distort competition, and it is therefore approved.
