
The Competition Authority is reviewing the merger of Ölgerð Egils Skallagrímssonar hf. and Kjarnavörur ehf.
Ölgerðin and its subsidiary Danól are engaged in the production and sale of beverages, both soft drinks and alcoholic drinks, as well as the import and wholesale of various food and speciality products for grocery stores, large kitchens, restaurants, bakeries, etc.
Kjarnavörur ehf. is engaged in the production and wholesale of various products, including sauces, margarine, porridge and jams. Among Kjarnavörur hf.'s best-known brands are Ljóma margarine, Smyrja cooking fat, Kjarna jams and porridge, Kjarna mayonnaise and sauces, and Úrvals sauces.

All stakeholders and interested parties are hereby given the opportunity to submit views regarding this merger., for example, on the market position of Ölgerðin (Danól) and Kjarnvörur, on the possible effects of the merger on competition, the conditions in the relevant markets, and on other matters that the companies address in the merger notification or that a third party may wish to raise regarding the merger.
Reviews should be sent by email to gogn@samkeppni.is and due to statutory deadlines in merger matters, they must be received no later than Friday, 8th August.
