A lawyer with a keen interest in competition law

The Competition Authority is seeking a dynamic lawyer with a passion for contributing to the shaping of competition law in Iceland. The lawyers at the Competition Authority participate in and are responsible for the investigation and resolution of competition matters in various sectors of the economy, as well as undertaking other interesting projects and legal issues in the field of competition law. This is a varied and challenging role that requires solid legal knowledge.

 

Key tasks:

  • Investigation and resolution of competition matters in various sectors of business.
  • Analysis and resolution of other legal issues
  • Analyses of markets and the competitive position of companies
  • Drafting opinions and reports, as well as submissions to the Althingi and ministries.
  • Participation in international cooperation

 

Educational and competency requirements:

  • Bar or Master's degree in Law
  • Experience in competition or administrative law
  • Experience and knowledge of European law is an advantage.
  • Initiative and independence in tackling tasks
  • Good analytical skills and an organised approach to work
  • Communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent command of Icelandic and English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of a Nordic language is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and an interest in economics and business matters is an advantage.

The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement of the Ministry of Finance and the relevant trade union.
