The Competition Authority is handling the merger of the General Pension Fund and the Lífsverk Pension Fund.
Almenni Pension Fund and Lífsverk Pension Fund are independent pension funds operating in accordance with Act No. 129/1997 on compulsory insurance of pension rights and the activities of pension funds. The funds' activities consist of receiving contributions, safeguarding and investing members' assets, and paying pensions, as well as providing loans to individuals.
The merger notification concerning the merger of Almenni Pension Fund and Lífsverk Pension Fund, in which the notifiers describe the merger and competition from the perspective of the pension funds, is available. here .
All stakeholders and interested parties are hereby given the opportunity to submit views regarding this merger., for example, on the potential effects of the merger on competition regarding the reception and return on pension savings and the provision of mortgages to fund members, the conditions in the relevant markets and on other matters that the pension funds address in the merger notification, or matters that a consultee may wish to raise in relation to the merger.
Reviews should be sent by email to gogn@samkeppni.is and due to statutory deadlines in merger matters, they must be received no later than Friday, 12th December.
