The Competition Authority has ruled that the Civil Defence Association Landsbjörg must financially separate all of its activities that are conducted in competition with market participants on the one hand, i.e.i. the commercial activities of the Landsbjörg Society, such as the sale and servicing of first-aid kits, the sale of fireworks, the sale of Christmas trees, and its general rescue and accident prevention activities, which are partly funded by public money. Financial separation is intended to ensure that the competitive operations of the Slysavarnafélag Landsbjargar are not subsidised by funds from the organisation's activities that receive public funding.
