The Competition Authority appeals district court's ruling on the director-general's disqualification

In a judgment of the Reykjavík District Court dated 18 October, in the case of Mjólkursamsalan ehf., Auðhumla svf. and Osta- og smjörsalan sf. against the Competition Authority, it is concluded that Páll Gunnar Pálsson, Director of the Competition Authority, is obliged to recuse himself from the handling of the administrative case which began with a search at the aforementioned companies on 5 June.

The Competition Authority cannot accept the judgment and has therefore decided to appeal it to the Supreme Court. The Competition Authority's lawyer in the case is Kristinn Bjarnason, QC.
