Today and tomorrow, a co-operation meeting of European competition authorities is taking place in Reykjavik, where field and information technology investigations (IT forensics) are being discussed. This is a regular collaboration, managed by a working group in which all the sister organisations of the Competition Authority in Europe are represented. The purpose of the work is to increase and harmonise the knowledge of these institutions on IT investigations and the conduct of all types of on-site investigations, such as searches. The Competition Authority has been an active participant in this group and has led various pieces of work undertaken within its framework.
Around sixty representatives from nearly thirty organisations, including EFTA and the EU, are taking part in the meeting here in the country.
The Competition Authority regards cooperation with foreign sister institutions as a very important part of its activities, as information and experience from elsewhere can often prove invaluable to the institution in the resolution of its tasks.
