Drafting the discussion document No. 1/2011, Competition in the banking market, The Competition Authority requested information from the Central Bank of Iceland on the loans of individual banks and savings banks. The Central Bank refused that request. The Competition Authority reiterated its request and has subsequently decided to impose a daily fine of 1.5 million krónur on the Central Bank of Iceland, in order to compel the disclosure of the data. Once the information in question is available, the Competition Authority will update the discussion paper on its website. This is further detailed in the decision No. 14/2011.
