The Irish Competition Authority, together with the local police authorities, recently carried out a search in accordance with Irish competition law at the headquarters of the Irish Farmers' Association. This was done on suspicion of illegal collusion.
Under Irish competition law, the competition authority is required to investigate alleged breaches of competition law, whether prompted by a notification or on its own initiative. The case is currently under review and a decision on whether to bring legal proceedings against the parties concerned will be taken following the investigation.
