
The Competition Authority has published a decision No. 13/2013, Purchase by 365 miðla ehf. of all shares in Midi.is ehf. from Digitalus ehf.. The decision concerns the merger of 365 miðla ehf, one of the country's largest media companies, and Midi.is ehf, which specialises in the agency sale of tickets for popular events on the Internet.
During its investigation, the Competition Authority gathered information and views from the merging parties, their competitors, and customers of Mida.is. Market participants' submissions raised certain concerns about the proposed merger. Negotiations with the merger parties have led to an agreement between the merger parties and the Competition Authority, on the condition that the merger is subject to certain commitments. These commitments are intended to ensure the independence of Mida.is from the other operations of 365 media, particularly with regard to the sale of advertising.
