Unannounced inspections at the premises of Eimskipafélag Íslands hf. and Samskip hf.

With reference to media coverage earlier today, the Icelandic Competition Authority confirms that the Authority initiated unannounced inspections today at the premises of Eimskipafélag Íslands hf., Samskip hf. and selected subsidiaries of these companies operating in Iceland (transport services).

These inspections are part of an investigation intended to ascertain whether there is any breach of the prohibition rules of the Competition Act. The inspections are carried out on the basis of a ruling by the Reykjavík District Court. The Authority has no further information at this stage of the investigation.
