In light of media enquiries regarding the investigation into Eimskipafélag Íslands hf., Samskipir hf. and related companies, the Competition Authority wishes to make the following statement: Upon reviewing the documents obtained from the premises searches at the companies on 10 September, it became apparent that further document collection was necessary. This collection took place today. The investigation is still intended to shed light on whether indications of a breach of competition law are well-founded. No conclusion has been reached in the matter, but the investigation is ongoing. At this stage, the Authority cannot comment further on the progress of the investigation.
