On 18 February 2015, the Competition Authority announced on its website that Vodafone and Nova were permitted to enter into a specific partnership to operate a mobile phone network. The companies are permitted to jointly own a special operating company which will manage the operation of the distribution network. The basis for the collaboration is that the parties have entered into a settlement with the Competition Authority, agreeing to comply with detailed conditions designed to prevent the companies' collaboration on the operation of the network from distorting competition in the mobile services market, at both wholesale and retail levels.
The Competition Authority has now published a detailed Decision No. 14/2015, on its website. It discusses the conditions set for the collaboration and outlines the handling of the case and the market participants' viewpoints. A news release regarding the case, dated 18 February 2015, is available. here.
