The Competition Authority has been reviewing the merger of Skinney-Þinganes Ltd. and Auðbjörg Ltd. The companies are both engaged in the fishing, processing and sale of seafood. Upon examining the merger, it was revealed that the combined entity's share of all species, with the exception of langoustines, was lower than 20% of the allocated fishing quotas. The Competition Authority therefore obtained detailed information on the market for the fishing, processing and sale of langoustine catch. The Authority's investigation found no indications that the merger was likely to significantly distort competition. For this reason, there were no grounds for intervention in the matter. The full details of the case's outcome can be found in the decision of the Competition Authority. No. 32/2015, Merger of Skinneyjar–Þinganess hf. and Auðbjörg ehf..
