
As the Competition Authority has publicly announced, views have recently been sought on its preliminary assessment of the fuel market, which was published in Competition Authority Report No. 2/2015., Market research on the fuel market – Preliminary assessment report.
The deadline for submitting views has now passed. In total, 22 parties have submitted views and they are being published on website The Competition Authority. The Competition Authority thanks these parties for having submitted their views.
In May or June, the Competition Authority will hold a meeting to discuss the report and the views that have been raised in more detail, in accordance with Article 8 of Regulation No 490/2013 on the Competition Authority's market investigations. The arrangements for the meeting will be announced at a later date.
Having received the views submitted, the Competition Authority will assess whether or to what extent there is a reason to revise the findings of the preliminary assessment.
The Competition Authority's preliminary assessment report, published on 30 November, provides a detailed analysis of the market's conditions and practices, and possible measures to remove barriers to competition. The preliminary assessment report is part of a market investigation which will determine whether, and if so what, barriers to competition exist in the fuel market.
During the consultation process, the Competition Authority received various questions about the content of the report and its assumptions. The answers to those questions were communicated in due course on website of the supervisory authority.
