The Competition Authority today took a provisional decision. No. 1/2005 regarding alleged breaches by the Icelandic Broadcasting Corporation, which operates the television channels Skjáinn and English Football, of the conditions set out in the Competition Council's decision of 11 March 2005. That decision included conditions for the authorisation of Landsími Íslands' acquisition of the Icelandic Broadcasting Corporation. The provisional decision of the Competition Authority states that Landsími Íslands does not have an exclusive right to distribute English Football on the company's telecommunications networks. The decision by the Competition Authority includes instructions for the Icelandic Broadcasting Corporation aimed at protecting competition in, among other things, the telecommunications market.
