Public consultation on Landsbankinn's acquisition of TM – Competition perspective sought

Landsbankinn hf. hefur tilkynnt um kaup félagsins á TM hf. Kaupin fela í sér að breyting verður á yfirráðum til frambúðar yfir TM og er því um samruna er að ræða í skilningi 17. gr. samkeppnislaga og er hann tilkynningaskyldur samkvæmt 17.a gr. laganna. Formleg málsmeðferð hjá Samkeppniseftirlitinu hófst 20. september sl.

Öllum hagsmunaðilum og öðrum áhugasömum aðilum er hér með gefinn kostur á að skila inn sjónarmiðum varðandi samrunann. Eðli máls samkvæmt er einkum vænst sjónarmiða er lúta að mögulegum áhrifum samrunans á samkeppni. Einnig geta sjónarmið t.d. lotið að þeim mörkuðum sem sem fyrirtækin starfa á eða að tilteknum samkeppnislega þýðingarmiklum atriðum sem fram koma í samrunaskrá. Mikilvægt er að sjónarmið séu rökstudd.

Bæði fyrirtækin eru landsmönnum vel kunn og þarfnast því ekki mikillar kynningar. 

  • TM er þriðja stærsta skaðatryggingafélag landsins og rekur það jafnframt líftryggingastarfsemi gegnum dótturfélag sitt TM líftryggingar hf.
  • Landsbankinn er stærsti viðskiptabanki landsins og starfar á fjölmörgum mörkuðum á sviði fjármálaþjónustu. Bankinn býður einstaklingum, fyrirtækjum og fjárfestum upp á alhliða fjármálaþjónustu. Meðal annars rekur bankinn innlánastarfsemi, útlánastarfsemi, markaðsviðskiptastarfsemi og eignastýringarstarfsemi.
