The Competition Authority today publishes the second of three educational videos, which are intended to shed light on competition-related issues in a visual and simple way.
Í the first video The competition law was discussed in general terms, but now it is time for a video about the abuse of a dominant market position by companies.

The educational videos are intended for people of all ages who are interested in learning about the importance of effective competition, competition law, and the role of the Competition Authority.
The results of a survey commissioned by the Competition Authority in 2020 on Knowledge and attitudes of Icelandic companies towards competition issues showed that 35% of managers considered themselves to be aware of abuse of a dominant market position in the market, to some, rather a large or a very large extent.
The abuse of a dominant position by companies, whether directed at smaller competitors or consumers directly, can have significantly harmful consequences for market competition, consumers, and society as a whole. There is therefore ample reason to shed more light on the duties that competition law imposes on such companies.
