Following today's media coverage of the Competition Authority's investigation into matters concerning Gudmund Kristjansson

Vegna fjölmiðlaumfjöllunar í dag um rannsókn Samkeppniseftirlitsins á málefnum tengdum Guðmundi Kristjánssyni vill Samkeppniseftirlitið taka eftirfarandi fram. 

Líkt og tilkynnt var um til kauphallar og birt þar opinberlega í júlí sl., hefur Samkeppniseftirlitið framangreint mál til rannsóknar á grundvelli 17. og 10. gr.samkeppnislaga. Einkum er til skoðunar hvort breytingar hafi orðið á yfirráðum í HB Granda þegar Brim eignaðist verulegan hlut í félaginu í maí sl. Einnig eru til skoðunartengsl fyrirtækja í gegnum eignarhluti og stjórnarsetu Guðmundar sem til staðar voru á þeim tíma eða áður.
Rétt er taka skýrt fram að endanleg niðurstaða í framangreindu máli liggur ekki fyrir. Það frummat sem kynnt var aðilum máls byggði á fyrirliggjandi upplýsingum á þeim tíma. Var frummatið sett fram til þess að gefa hlutaðeigandi aðilum tækifæri til þess bregðast við því og koma skýringum og sjónarmiðum á framfæri. Af eðli máls leiðir að umrætt frummat getur því breyst.

Aðilar málsins hafa nú komið á framfæri skýringum og sjónarmiðum vegna málsins, þ.á.m þess efnis að Guðmundur var genginn úr stjórn Vinnslustöðvarinnar þegar athugun Samkeppniseftirlitsins hófst.

Er Samkeppniseftirlitið nú að fara yfir fram komnar skýringar og upplýsingar og afla frekari upplýsinga áður en ákvörðun verður tekin um hvort þörf sé íhlutunar í málinu.
