Composite image/SKE

The Competition Authority is handling the merger of Hekla and Bílasón. Hekla is the Icelandic agent for Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, GWM and Mitsubishi, and also services the aforementioned makes at its workshop. The company also imports original spare parts for the aforementioned brands and, to a minor extent, general (aftermarket) spare parts, according to the merger filing. Bílson operates a car workshop in Reykjavík and acts as an authorised service provider for Heklu for Volkswagen, VW commercial vehicles and Skoda.

A notification concerning the merger, in which the notifiers describe the merger and competition from the perspective of the merging parties, is available here.

All stakeholders and other interested parties are hereby given the opportunity to submit views regarding the merger, such as its potential effects on competition, the situation in repair markets and other related markets, and on any other matters that the consultee may wish to raise in relation to the merger.

Reviews should be sent by email to gogn@samkeppni.is and due to statutory deadlines in merger matters, they must be received no later than Tuesday, 28 April. It is also possible to submit documents via Competition Authority's data portal here. If the comments contain confidential information, it is important to state this and also to send a copy with the confidential information removed.

It is possible to read More on merger matters and mergers within the meaning of competition law here.
