The Competition Authority invites submissions for an investigation into the management and ownership structures of companies in the fisheries sector – Information page opened

Last October The Competition Authority reported a decision to launch an investigation into management and ownership structures in the Icelandic fishing industry. The findings of the investigation will be presented in a dedicated report, which is expected to be available by the end of 2023.

Due to the review, the Competition Authority has now Open information page on its website, where the inspection, its preparation and progress to date are detailed, and where a plan for its organisation and phasing from this point onwards is also set out (Project plan).

This information is intended to promote the transparency of the review. Furthermore, anyone who is interested is given the opportunity to submit their views and information.

At this stage of the work, fisheries, as well as all others who wish, are given the opportunity to comment on the project plan, ...the inspection or anything else the person wishes to bring to the attention of the Authority. Comments of this nature should be sent to the Competition Authority at the postal address samkeppni@samkeppni.is no later than 5 May 2023.

Furthermore, everyone is given the opportunity to submit comments in connection with the review, such as regarding the management and ownership relationships of fisheries companies, whether amongst themselves or with other industries. Such comments can be submitted via Homepage gateway the inspectorate (anonymously if desired), or by email to samkeppni@samkeppni.is.
